FightFitters!

You may have noticed that there hasn’t been anybody to help with your injury prevention, recovery or management at FightFit Scotty left earlier this year. In order to meet this need, Bash and Paul have engaged me! So here is an introduction so you can get an idea of who I am and what I can do for you.
I have been working in the health and fitness industry for close to ten years and have been involved in many sports including, boxing, kickboxing football, basketball, soccer and running etc.

I have a double advanced diploma in Sports Therapy and Myotherapy as well as being a fully certified personal trainer and level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach.
I have had the pleasure of working on many elite athletes from world champion kickboxers, to collegiate basketballers, to Australian soccer players. Recently, I returned from the Australian Institute of Sport where I worked in the physical therapy department.

So the question is what does it all mean and how can it help you?
My experience and knowledge has created a unique therapy service that focuses on restoring and optimizing athletic function. Whether you are suffering from muscle or joint pain, a lack of flexibility, poor recovery between exercise sessions (because of too many burpies), or just looking for that little missing piece in your power output I can help.

A session with me is not just lying on the table getting a massage (unless that’s all you want), a session with me will usually include many corrective exercise techniques and motor learning skills (basically how to move the best way to get the best results) as well as a whole range of therapeutic techniques including:
• Dry Needling
• Cupping
• Kinesio taping
• Myofascial Release
• Joint Mobilisations
• TENs therapy

I will be available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday starting from the 13th of May. If you have any questions or think I can help you please contact me on the below details or enquire at reception.
I am looking forward to seeing you all at the gym and assisting you in getting the best out of your body.
Cheers

Hey FightFitters,

Lauren Raso here, your Health and Wellbeing Consultant at FightFit. It is great to be part of a unique team of people who are trying to get the best out of you and themselves.

I will be providing you with some honest, unique, sometimes confronting information and blogs on health, your body and the health industry.

I am a qualified Physiologist and a Nutritionist, but I am not like other nutritionists or dietitians. Dietitians and nutritionists tell you:

food fuels your metabolism.

energy in = energy out.

food + exercise = healthy / lean body.

obesity is about overeating.

I am different because I will never tell you any of these things!

Instead, I will teach you that

food fuels your hormones, not your metabolism and how it works.

energy in does not equal energy out and why.

food + exercise does not always equal a healthy / lean body and why.

obesity is a disorder in the brain and not caused by overeating.

I am the best at what I do because I have spent over a decade researching and investigating. I live and breathe this stuff! I spend every spare moment reading, learning and experimenting. Some areas of my study include physiology, exercise physiology, neurobiology, biochemistry, training principles, nutrition, hormones, circadian rhythm, sleep, stress, sun, chemicals, electromagnetic field, quantum physics, happiness, creative art, meditation.

I have healed myself and overcome debilitating illnesses. When doctors, specialists and traditional medicine failed to help me or provide answers, I took it upon myself to investigate and treat myself.

Over the last decade I have treated and cured myself of asthma, eczema, hay-fever, chronic sinusitis, allergies, irritable bowel syndrome, episodic cramping, PCOS, insomnia, adrenal fatigue, exhaustion, depression, anxiety, panic, post traumatic stress disorder, vitamin deficiency, mineral deficiency,

I am living proof of what is possible with the correct steps and the correct information. I am living proof that what I teach and how I treat is successful in changing a person’s health for lasting results.

I can help you get more our of your training at FightFit. I can help you recover better, improve your energy, or help you lose weight. Email me at info@laurenraso.com to find out how we can work together to get the most out of your body and your training.

What makes the Ultimate Fighter? Or in our case, the Ultimate Fight Fitter?

For anyone who’s stepped into a Fightfit Boxing Gym, you would have noticed that we’re not like your average TV filled, glossy on the outside, McDonald-chain Super Gym. At Fightfit, you won’t find anyone staring into oblivion whilst strolling on a treadmill or spending more time comparing their exercise outfit to everyone else instead of actually exercising. Why? Because the classes we’ve developed are designed specifically to train and condition our members like real fighters (Without the obviously drawback of getting punched in the head). You can train as if you were working towards your next world title, but the only pain you’ll have to face is when your muscles are screaming for mercy!

We all know fighters are renowned for being some of the greatest athletes in the world, covering all bases when it comes to their fitness and health. They have strength, accuracy, co-ordination, balance, cardiovascular endurance, speed, power, agility, flexibility, and stamina (not to mention an uncanny ability to trash-talk).

Even some of the most renowned athletes on Earth would be hard-pressed to excel in ALL of these areas. Sure, a long distance runner would have the cardiovascular endurance and the stamina, but where’s the power? Where’s the strength?

As a boxer, nothing can be left unchecked and at Fightfit you will be encouraged to work on every aspect.
So where do you currently stand? Are you covering everything in your weekly training regime? Can you call yourself an athlete? You might not be a fighter, but wouldn’t you like to train like one and see some amazing results?
If you want to be a well-rounded “Fight Fitter” and be the best, healthiest athlete that you can be then simply doing the same thing at the gym week in week out isn’t enough.

You need variety and you need challenges.

So this week, have a go including something different into your workout.
What about Strength and Conditioning class with Dirk, Dave or Cameron? Or a Kickboxing class with Eric? Combine this with a skill session with a trainer and a flexibility and stretching session in your own time, and already you’d be pushing yourself.
On top of this, try adding:
-A long distance run (10km)
-Interval sprints (30sec at 100% effort then 60sec 50%. Repeat for 20 minutes)
Train like an athlete this week!

Have fun team!

You may have noticed a few changes over the past couple of months at FightFit, this is due to new management!

Paul and I took over FightFit officially in March this year and are really excited about the future. We want the gym to be a place that people want to come in and train, and a place where trainers want to come in and work.

Our focus is our members and how we can keep you excited about training at FightFit. We have already made some changes, including:

Kickboxing classes: We have 2 new Kickboxing classes on Saturday 9.30am (with Eric Diamondstein) and Wednesday at 6.30pm (Mark Mullan). Both these classes are taken by our pro kickboxers, who have trained with and fought against some of the best in the World.

More equipment: We have bought more bags, weights and machines so members have everything they need to do each class.

Drinking fountain (FINALLY!!!!): You’ve been saying it for years, so we thought we’d oblige! Filter and cooler are on the way too…

A cleaner gym: I fired the old cleaners as soon as I saw the bathrooms and cobwebs. The new guys are awesome (Domestic Cleaning Done and Dusted)

More trainers: We have added 3 new trainers to the FightFit team – Eric Diamondstein, Mark Mullan, and Qamil Balla. Stay tuned for more…

Over the next couple of months there will be a few little changes coming through, in particular, lookout for the member feedback survey. This is your opportunity to shape your gym so please participate and be honest in the feedback you provide.
As always, if you have any questions or queries please give us a call on 9699 7675 or send us an email infor@fightfit.com.au
